To establish whether a Will has been left by the deceased, a four year search will be conducted to confirm whether a
Grant of Representation was issued.
A Grant of Representation is a court issued document, enabling the person(s) named in it to administer the estate of the deceased, and is in the form of either:
Probate
When the deceased left a valid Will with a named Executor(s), enabling the Executor(s) or beneficiaries of a
Will to collect money or assets in the estate. If Probate has been granted it is usually within a year or two of
the date of death. Probate is not required on all estates depending on the size and ownership of assets and therefore in such cases the Will may not become a public record document.
Letters of Administration with Will
When the deceased left a valid Will but without an acting Executor.
Letters of Administration
When the deceased did not leave a Will.
If the search conducted on your behalf is successful, you will receive an official copy of a Will and/or Letters of Administration
If there is no trace of an issued grant as per your supplied information you will receive a refund of £5.00 PLUS the postage amount you paid in advance on your application
.
